Transformers (2007, PG-13)

Transformers is based off of the Hasbro kids toy line, Transformers.  The film depicts a war going on between two sides of robots that has carried on to Earth after thousands of years of warfare.  That war has come to Earth because the robots, called Transformers as they can transform into anything they scan, are fighting over a giant cube called the All-Spark that can create Transformers.  The bad guys, the Decepticons, want it to create a new, fresh army of evil Transformers to conquer the Universe; the good guys, the Autobots, are fighting to stop them.
Complaints of the film that I have heard of include that the movie ruined the toy line and the original cartoon series by changing the Transformers appearance and habits, that the film is over long at almost 2 ½ hours.  Surely enough, 2 ½ hours is always nearly pushing it for an action movie, but the mostly at times Transformers manages to pick up the pace.
Michael Bay probably wasn’t the perfect choice to sit in the director’s chair for Transformers, as he received a lot of complaints and criticisms from Transformers fans.
I never was a big transformers fan so how do I know if the film ruined the cartoon and toys or not?   Grossing over 700 million at the box-office, Transformers was a big hit but received mixed critical reviews.  The film can boast about impressive CGI effects, and I enjoyed the movie well enough.
