The Saint (1997, PG-13)

The Saint is based off of the old British television series from the 60s, of how a thief (nicknamed the Saint, and he takes the name of several saints to through off cops and law enforcement people), steals various important things from several people.
This time, he wants to steal a microchip from a Russian political party leader who in turn wants to be the Russian president.  The thief wants it as it can give him enough money to retire, but other than that he doesn’t really need it and then the movie just feels too pointless.
Val Kilmer is the only major actor who in the film who gives the good acting—everyone else’s acting was poor with quite forgettable characters.
The movie also isn’t that very tense—though it tries to be tense and exciting, it simply moves along with the thief trying to evade the Russian leader’s son and his henchman.
Of course, the Saint pulls it off, and the Russian wanna-be president is arrested for stealing oil and promising to give the Russian people more so that he could become the new Russian President.  The Saint was a box-office success but a critical failure.
