Starting a series, Rush Hour is a good addition to the buddy cop genre of films. It follows a fast talking American LAPD cop who joins forces with a fighting-master Chinese secret agent to rescue the daughter a Chinese ambassador and friend of the Chinese secret agent.
The FBI wants the Chinese agent out of the way, so they hire the cop for the ‘special mission’ of keeping the agent out of the way. Though at first skeptical of each other, the Chinese agent and American cop start to get to know each other better as the movie goes on and eventually decided to work together to rescue the girl after seeing the mistakes the FBI is making, and they from a pretty good duo.
Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan form a dynamic duo in this buddy cop film.
Rush Hour has lots of karate, kung-fu type fighting mixed in with plenty of comedy and mystery to form an action-comedy movie. Yes, there will be several people who don’t like it, and I do admit it does seem short at approximately an hour and a half.
It’s nothing new, but it’s action and fun.
