Prince of Persia, the Sands of Time (2010, PG-13)

When I sat down, watching Prince of Persia, the Sands of Time, I felt like how I did when I was watching the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie years before.  The movie is based off a video game, but it didn’t seem like a video game that much when you watched it, it felt just like a movie.
The movie’s about, well obviously, the Prince of Persia, Dastan, portrayed by the young actor Jake Gyllenhaal, who is framed for murdering his father.  The prince escapes into the desert, coming across a beautiful princess who is secretly in possess of the Dagger of Time, which can reverse time.  The loyal to his country Dastan finds it, gets a hold of it, and continues to escape while trying to prove he is innocent while keeping the dagger away from the bad guys, who want it for their own use so that his father’s brother can reverse time, kill his brother, and become the king of Persia.
Aimed at teens, Prince of Persia was yet a good acting summer popcorn flick.  Most of the actors gave somewhat lazy acting performances.  The movie has paved the way for a new series like Pirates of the Caribbean which has unfortunately now gone downhill and been ruined.  Hopefully, if another Prince of Persia movie is made, that will not happen. Prince of Persia, the Sands of Time is new, swashbuckling fun.
