The Babe (1992, PG)

This biopic based on the life of George Ruth doesn’t really work out.  It’s a sadder movie from beginning to end.  George Babe Ruth as he came to be known was one of the best and most enduring people in sports history, especially in the game of baseball.
The Babe focuses more on his personal life rather than his sports career, with only bits and pieces of his sports talent actually being shown on screen.  It would have been nice if they could have evened this out.
Though not really into sports, I yet still learned a few things about Ruth’s real, personal life.  Still though, the movie fails to be dramatic about it, skimming over a few events and cutting a few scenes too short.
The Babe bombed at the box office.  John Goodman, who starred in the title role, was himself disappointed in his own performance.
Grade: C
