Mission Impossible is intricate and complex, but doesn’t move along all that great. Too many of the action scenes are just so faky and unrealistic that it’s sometimes even funny. A lot of the acting is too overconfident, and, for a spy movie, it can be slow moving at times.
The movie gives us a usual spy story of how a CIA mission in Europe goes wrong and the only survivor is blamed for what happened. In the end, it ends up that one of the agents, who had supposedly been killed, had betrayed the rest of the team. There’s the basic plot, but there’s a little more to it than that, but I won’t get into heavy details.
Mission Impossible feels like that it’s meant to appeal to teens for a popcorn action movie with Tom Cruise. Some scenes are meant to be tense and exciting; occasionally it was but then it went on long and slow. Each action and thriller scene simply went on too long for me to handle. On the other hand, the movie has paved the way for a series that can improve upon this film, and the movie will appeal to many for its deeper, intricate plot line.
