The Lost World is the somewhat necessary sequel to the smash-hit Jurassic Park, and it is also based off of the bestselling novel that was the sequel to the bestselling novel, Jurassic Park. The Lost World takes place 4 years after the disaster at Jurassic Park. Two separate teams of scientists race to a 2nd island of dinosaurs off of the coast of Costa Rica. This time, there’s more screen time for the dinosaurs, but the scenes with the dinosaurs offer nothing new from what we saw in the first Jurassic Park, other then there’s more dinosaurs chasing more people.
The Lost World is just as exciting but not as memorable as the first Jurassic Park, giving us a good look at several new species of dinosaurs that were seen very little or absent from the first film. The climax of the movie comes with a T-Rex attacking San Diego, which was heavily influenced from the 1925 classic silent film the Lost World (which the title it borrows from as well).
The Lost World was released to a mixed critical reaction but another box-office it. It won’t be as popular as Jurassic Park, and had the same special effects, but it did have more dinosaur time then the first film, whether that’s good or bad.
