The Blue Max (1966, NR)

Surprisingly enough, the Blue Max was very entertaining and features some of the most impressive dogfights I've ever seen captured on film.

It stars George Peppard as Bruno Statchel, an aspiring German World War I pilot in the closing year of World War I.  The movie follows Statchel as he rises through the ranks to go to any means possible to get the prize Blue Max, for which he must shoot down 20 enemy aircraft.

Directed by John Guillermin, the biggest problem with the Blue Max is Peppard's so-so performance as the protagonist.  Other then that, it's a completely overshadowed WWI drama, and so I found the Blue Max as one of the most entertaining and best war flying films I've seen!
