Taking place about 2 years or so after the original Spider-Man film, Spider-Man 2 finds Parker this time as a struggling college student. The original Spider-Man movie received positive reviews; this sequel received even better critical acclaim.
I can’t see why, because Spider-Man 2 is highly overrated. The movie offers nothing new or improved over the first Spider-Man; in fact, Spider-Man 2 was too drawn out compared to the first film. It is never fully explained why Parker’s powers mysteriously disappear for part of the movie while the villain, Doctor Octopus, rampages throughout the city looking for money to build a new solar sun machine to control the power of the sun (good luck). Parker and his girlfriend’s relationship go on to no purpose.
Sam Raimi returns for the director’s spot to helm the sequel; Tobey Maguire continues to do good as web slinger.
I can’t see why reviews to Spider-Man 2 was so critically acclaimed, but apparently it appealed more so to people and critics then the first film did.
