The Bourne Identity transforms the original, long spy book into an updated, high-tech, fast paced version that will appeal to audiences more. It’s fast paced and the action scenes and stunts are performed well. At first, the Bourne Identity wasn’t supposed to start a series; it was supposed to be its own thing. But following the box-office and critical success of the movie, it seemed right that more films should be made based off of the series.
The basic story stays the same to the novel—a top CIA agent is shot off a boat in the Mediterranean. The rest of the movie follows him trying to find out who he is, and the CIA repeatedly sending in more agents to track him down, because they think he’s working for the bad guys. Pretty much, we can’t tell who’s good and who’s bad.
The acting was good though not completely confident. On the other hand, the movie is very fast paced and captured my attention and kept me watching.
Matt Damon stars in the lead role. Like pretty much everyone else, he does a good job though he’s not that confident, but he will go on to perfect his role already in the sequel, the Bourne Supremacy.
The movie’s nice as it as gives us the points of view of both Bourne and the CIA tracking him down. I like it where we get a view from a lot of characters at once; either wise it makes a movie feel incomplete. The film gives us a quick shoot out at the end, and you can still feel the tension at the end of movie. The movie was overall well crafted and fast paced, but some of it broke away from the book.
