Movie Review: Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987, R): *** ½

I loved this movie the first time I watched it because it was, well, so dang hilarious!  In multiple viewings since then though, however, I have come to realize that I haven't seen all too many other comedies that are bette then Planes, Trains and Automobiles!  And now that I am actually thinking hard on the subject, I can't really think of any better comedies.  Planes, Trains and Automobles is a warm-hearted although sometimes comedically crude but constantly hilarious comedy set during Thanksgiving.  As such, it has become my 'Thanksgiving movie", aka. the movie I watch every year on Thanksgiving.  And every time, it never loses it's charm.  The main reason we owe to Planes, Trains and Automobiles being such a great comedy is the fact that it displays such genius comedic talent by it's two lead stars, Steve Martin and John Candy, who act great together and make the film succeed.  Planes, Trains and Automobiles doesn't deserve just to be viewed simply as a darn funny comedy; it deserves to be viewed as a great movie in total.  Directed by John Hughes.
