Diamonds are Forever, or License to Kill, maybe both, have got to be the least likeable Bond films ever made. The differences between them is that License to Kill is a revenge picture...which never goes too well for a Bond flick, and Diamonds are Forever is formulaic Bond fare. Even more noticeable though is that Diamonds are Forever sports an aged and unenthusiastic Sean Connery in the lead role. Connery, who in the first five Bond segments as the best Bond in the franchise's history, now feels like he's here for a little extra dough over actually wanting to be there. The Las Vegas setting itself is, well, simply not Bond. It just isn't. The acting itself is pretty awful here. There are no memorable sequences, no stellar action sequences, and where is Connery's usual wit and charm? Diamonds are Forever is missing everything that makes a good Bond movie.
