20,000 Leagues under the Sea: *** ½
Release Date: 1954
MPAA Rating: G
Director: Richard Fleischer
This is the best there is at Disney filmmaking, even though bits and pieces of the film drag. Based on the famous novel of the same name by Jules Verne. Numerous highlights include an attack by cannibals and later by a Giant Squid, and numerous journey's under the waves. Great production value.
Three Amigos: **
Release Date: 1986
MPAA Rating: PG
Director: John Landis
Watchable comedy where three famous western actors are hired to Mexico to protect a poor town from terrorizing bandits, and everyone thinks that they are real gunfighters. Has a few funny moments, but ultimately the fact that this is very conventional takes out a good portion of the laughs.
3:10 to Yuma: ***
Release Date: 2007
MPAA Rating: R
Director: James Mangold
Shoot em up western ups the ante with engaging storyline, deep characters and splendid acting. Still a rather high body count for a western.
3 Men and a Baby: ***
Release Date: 1987
MPAA Rating: PG
Director: Leonard Nimoy
Good natured, funny and entertaining comedy about three men who take care of a baby left at their doorstep.
3 Men and a Little Lady: **
Release Date: 1990
MPAA Rating: PG
Director: Emile Ardolino
Disappointing follow up to the entertaining first film. By this time the baby has grown up into a little lady, presumably to cause more trouble for the trio of bachelors.
7 Alone: 0 stars
Release Date: 1975
MPAA Rating: NR
Director: Earl Bellamy
A decent true story about seven kids who journeyed along the Oregon Trail about their parents. But the film is just one of the most poorly done in film history. In fact, it was so bad, it doesn't even have the joy of being so bad to be funny.
