It’s been 28 years, in 1982, since the original Tron movie came out with. Tron: Legacy has been waited for a long time. It’s cool, state of the art fun, even though it’s contains a mediocre plot that isn’t what you would mainly expect (a sequel to Tron has been in the works since 1990).
Tron: Legacy is not the film of the year, but instead a wild, fun sci-fi ride that is worth paying your dollars for to see.
Jeff Bridges, the star of the original film, is a leading co-star in this one, who plays the dad of the main hero who finds his way into the video-game. The plot has it that Bridge’s character, Kevin Flynn, has gotten trapped in his own system when his clones, Clu and Tron, turned against him and took control of everything, ruling with a peace keeping force and keeping Flynn from getting through the portal. Flynn’s son, Sam, finds his way in and, after barely surviving the games which are basically futuristic gladiator fights, joins forces with his dad and a program, Quorra, to fight back.
The plot is unoriginal and contrived, and it’s the state of the art special effects that steal the spotlight in this sci-fi adventure flick (the original film received the same type of criticism). Even so, Tron: Legacy is a worthwhile film adventure that keeps the fun as well as the entertainment.
