If you’re going to make a movie about a human expedition mission to mars, kind of in the tradition of Apollo 13, then make the tension build up to something. Cause the tension didn’t build up to anything in Mission to Mars.
With a few good actors and set in 2020, Mission to Mars doesn’t start off preachy or anything, but actually kind of exciting and tension. Not much is made of the first human landing on Mars, because the film skips right to the action, but therefore it also skips the drama.
Weaker then what it could have been, including the corny and childish title, Mission to Mars ends up only being another version of Darwin’s ridiculous theory of evolution, as the Martians, who are displayed as shiny, orange, tall, feminine people, end up being the descendants of the humans as they started the whole evolution process.
Mission to Mars ends to quick also. Brian de Palma directed Mission to Mars, he also directed The Untouchables and Mission Impossible.
